Uber for Bikes Is a Commuter Dream… When It Works

Uber for Bikes Is a Commuter Dream… When It Works

This dockless GPS-enabled bikes are getting more and more in the US cities. The way it works is that if you download the Uber app, there would be “Uber bike” section. It shows electric bikes’ locations, built and maintained by Jump Bikes. Once you choose the nearest bike, you can walk to it, then scan the barcode on the bike, and you are ready to ride the bike. The bikes cost $2 for half an hour and 7 cents per minute after that. This app will revolutionize the way city dwellers can commute, saving time, and freeing up traffic.

Actually, this program would help to the city, to people who do not have cars and use bus or walk. In some big megapolis's they started doing it, but it did not last long, it has already taken off. Cities like Paris, Zurich, and especially in China, there have been negative result. The reason was bikes were thrown into lakes or some parts were stolen. Which shows some areas are not ready for that kind of businesses.

This article, in my opinion, is about business which tries to make money by helping the community not charging a lot, even so little. In addition, once dockless bikes will get the popularity in the city, then the business will have most of the citizens as a consumers.
