Natural Flavors for consumers

Natural Flavors for Consumers

In the past decade sales of brands with artificial ingredients have been sufferer, as advocacy groups, bloggers, and others have criticizes their ingredients. Consumers concern have increased the food companies reconstruction of recipes. Their goals to remove artificial flavors, and replace with natural ones.

In the true color picture to the side you see the changes of food that will take out the chemicals in our foods. For example, boxed Mac & Cheese used turmeric, paprika, and Annatto seeds from achiote trees to improve the cheese. Black Forest fruit snacks changed as they used purple carrot and blueberries to improve theirs.

The process for food company is a long and lengthy process with tests and challenges. One change can mess another up. These require high funds and side affects, such as higher cost of food item, unintended change in taste or texture, and potential loss of loyal customers. General mills plans to cut the artificial flavors from cereals by  2017, and Kellogs corporation plans to fix their fruit loops and nutria grain bars by 2018. I am glad to see blogs like this that make a change. I cannot wait for the natural flavors to take the artificial products to be in the stores.
