Star Wars is one of the most famous sci-fi movie series of all time. Electronic Arts Inc. is the developer who has created the game 'Star Wars Battlefront' based on the movie. Now they depend on all the fans to buy the game in order to boost their sales.
They have currently set a goal to sell 13 million copies in the next year, the company is attempting to create a bond between two generations consisting of the young crowd as well as the older nostalgic fans of the series. They want the fathers and the sons to enjoy the game together, its more family friendly than traditional games. With the movie also set to release and attracting major hype from the media, there is high confidence that their goals will be met.
Now the challenge remains with the game being released, employees will have to work round the clock to make sure the online servers function perfectly in order for the millions of people who start playing the game enjoy a wonderful experience in the winter season. Although it will face competition from popular shooter-games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield.
This topic is very interesting because I have been a fan my entire life and the game reflected the movies exquisitely. From a marketing aspect, the company clearly identified its target market which was the youth as well as older fans. They have a huge fan base and it will be interesting to see how they reach out to these markets and the value it would bring to the company in the coming year. If you're a Star Wars fan then "May the force be with Battlefront" to succeed!
