Fashion,Fashion and Fashion!!!

Fashion,Fashion and Fashion!!!

No one escapes fashion whether you are good or slightly terrible at it. Article written by KIMBERLY CHRISMAN-CAMPBELL gives such great appetizing insight for five fashion museums scattered internationally. If i had money to blow i would just travel to see every single one of them. The first one is called Fashion Forward: 3 Centuries of Fashion (1715-2016) it will take place in Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, Apr. 7-Aug. 14, 2016. The reason this is unlike anything in our local Houston museums? Easy. 300 pieces to reflect 300 years of fashion.Yup 300 years of fashion, what is that even like you may ask? Well I would love to know the answer but I have no idea myself. However it would be amazing to see so many beautiful and “distinct” garments. Secondly the ,Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear in Victoria & Albert Museum, London, Apr. 16-Mar. 12, 2017. This museum will display intimate wear from undies to corsets and crinolines. Like the previous mentioned museum, this London museum will display three centuries worth of private dress. Oscar de la Renta passed away in 2014. However his legacy did not and in De Young Museum, San Francisco, Mar. 12-May 30, 2016 a collection of Renta’s career from the late ’50s to his death in 2014 will be on display. So if you love to see beautiful ballgowns and would love to daydream about being a princess this is totally eye worthy. Moving on to the next museum Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology and located in the heart of fashion New York City! Held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art May 5- Aug. 14, 2016, The fashion presented navigates from the The relationship between the hand and the machine, Industrial Revolution to today’s “slow fashion” movement. We buy clothes nowadays from all around the world thanks to Amazon or Ebay and we forget how advanced our technology has allowed us to become slightly unstoppable. This museum i think would bring more appreciation to today's technology surrounding the fashion world. Lastly presented was Reigning Men, Maybe the ball gowns from Oscar de La Renta are not your swing, especially because they cater to females so fellow don't feel discouraged!  Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Apr. 10-Aug. 21, 2016 will display Fashion in Menswear starting 1715 until 2015. Stop by L.A and celebrate the manliness fashion truth be told i don't think it is as diverse and crazy for lack of better word as the females, so I would definitely have to see what has changed in the years.

Costco, show me the money!

As a college junior, I know that many students turn to a part time job for slight essentials. Essentials such as Starbucks for last minute projects, Netflix to multitask, or Grubhub for the endless carbs lastly the remanding money for detergent or toothpaste and so on. Therefore when I came across this article I knew either I had found a new job or I could at least tell my friends where to apply. Costco Wholesale is a huge corporation and for the first time in nine years they were going to increase entry-level wages to thirteen dollars an hour! That is a sweet sweet deal if you ask me. I work for the school and I get a seven dollars and twenty five cents like many co-working students seeking their undergrad degree. So basically if I greet people and or check them out I get paid more rather then doing paper work all day long. This sound too good to be true, I wonder if this means that the body count for the corporation will decrease or if people will be laid off; I hope not. It will be interesting to see the turnout in a few months. This decision however has not really hurt the shareholders pockets thus the higher wages would reduce the company’s profit by about one cent a share to two.

Comcast & DreamWorks

Comcast & DreamWorks

Is there a new disney on the rise? So who can forget Shrek, umm no one really useless you are totally against all media and have not been up to date with animations in the last fifteen years. Well Comcast has agreed to buy DreamWorks SKG for the banging bucks of $3.8 Billion. This could potentially be an upcoming rival to the King of all animation’s Disney.  Comcast’s Universal Pictures studio is no stranger to this industry they personally had success with the “Despicable Me” movie however they are nowhere compared to the long term running champ. The deal however is not too shabby for its shareholders by the end of the year the deal is expected to close and the stockholders will obtain $41 in cash for each DreamWorks share. All i can say is Camera and ACTION! I loved the animated movie “Despicable Me” and am so ready to see what else they can create. I just hope my cable bill won't increase.

Sleeper Hits: Hotels With Movie Theaters

Sleeper Hits: Hotels With Movie Theaters

Hotels are now having movie theaters for guests to enjoy. Across the world, the VIP cinematic experience has had good ratings from numerous guests and non-guests saying, “it feels exclusive” and that it is much better than “pay-perview”. Most movie prices are from $35 to $90, and they include movie, food, and drinks. On average, theaters hold around 90 people. This is good for business, because by allowing both hotel guests and non-hotel guests to attend the movie, it saves people from the long lines and the crowded complex.

College Students Cash in Again: Half Off Apple Music

Apple music has announced that college students will receive 50% off subscription for up to four years. The discount will be offered through a service known as Unidays. Unidays verifies student status through use of a students university email address and then offers them discounts across various retailers such as Levi's, Microsoft and now apple music. This scheme mirrors that of Apple Music's competitor, Spotify. Spotify have offered a significant discount to college students since it's conception.

From a marketing point of view it seems most retailers are coining in on the fact that college students, as a market segment, have less disposable income. This is causing businesses to alter the price element of their marketing mix in order to cater to this specific market segment

Budweiser is America

Budweiser is America

In a blatant attempt to take advantage of the presidential election, the Anhueuser - Busch brewing company will be renaming their line of Budweiser beer as 'America'. That's right, from summer all the way through to the election 'America' will literally be in the hands of its citizens. The company will even go as far as replacing the 'AB' logo on the can for 'US' and replace 'King of Beers' for 'E Pluribus Unum'. This change comes during the most important period of the year for beer companies from Memorial day to labor day. This period is responsible for over a third of annual beer sales.

In terms of marketing its clear that Anhueuser - Busch have altered the promotion aspect of their marketing mix, fully utilizing the combination of the electoral race and this high volume sales period.

Batman’ Fails to Ride Debut Momentum

Batman Vs. Superman disappoints at the box office, proving that social networks and positive reviews can make a huge difference. On the opening weekend the movie debuted at $422.5 million. The movie starred Ben Affleck as Batman and introduced Wonder Woman. Critics weren't too pleased with the movie but Superman and Batman were able to overcome the negative reviews.  Now at the end of its box office air time the movie has grossed in a total $867.3 million, barely double its opening weekend. This is a sign fans were not pleased with the movie and didn't go to the theater to watch it multiple times or recommended it to family and friends. This is concerning for Warner Brothers because it plans on releasing more DC comic movies like “Suicide Squad,” “Wonder Woman” and “Justice League.”

How Apple Sold a Million Drake Albums in Five Days

In the age of digital music and fast decline of download sales and CD's Drake was able to sell one million copies of his new album, Views. Apples head of content Mr. Jackson said Drake was able to sell overwhelmingly large numbers of his album because he was able to gather up all his fans and use Apple music to promote his album. Drake has hosted over 20 episodes of OVO radio on apple music, releasing exclusive details about upcoming projects and releasing new music. The album sold 632,000 copies in the first 24 hours. This comes as a surprise because cd and download sales have fallen 60% in the last 15 years. Apple Music users streamed the album more than 250 million times world-wide. Drakes record label has also managed to delete any youtube videos related to the release of Views so that his music can only be exclusively listen to on apple music as of right now.

‘Captain America’ Flexes Muscles at the Box Office

“Captain America: Civil War” surged to a $181.8 million opening in the U.S. and Canada over the weekend, making it the fifth-highest debut in box-office history. The film also featured fan favorite Marvel characters such as Iron Man, Black Widow, and even Spider Man. Since Marvel studios is owned by Disney, the company received both profit from Civil War and their other recent film "The Jungle Book". The film essentially benefits the Marvel brand for both now and later because Civil War paves the way for future Marvel movies like Black Panther.
