Muriel Barnier Comes into UST to Educate Future Business Proffesionals

by Vincent Nguyen

On April 16, 2016 HSE's communications and training manager Muriel Barnier came to the University of Saint Thomas in order to talk about how she was able to make it big in the world of business and what was important to stay competitive in it. She first gave the class a quick history of what she had done, as she traveled around the world in order to become a pastor first until she fell in love and got married. Because of that she decided to learn about corporate finance, global citizenship, and program managing in various colleges. This knowledge assisted her in winning the IOGP Young Professional Award due to her diverse skills and knowledge as the competition were very linear compared to her. After this brief view of her life Muriel Barnier told us some tips about how to improve and succeed in business, like how important replying to emails are and managing your stress. Overall this quest speaker class was very informative and interesting, giving us a more comprehensive view into the world of business in real life and how you should act in it.

  1. The guest speaker was very unique. I truly learned a lot from her presentation despite her having a non-traditional path toward professional success.
