President Obama to Visit Hiroshima Later This Month
Barack Obama will be the first
U.S president to visit Hiroshima later this month, in attempts to send a signal
about his ambition for realizing the goals of a planet without nuclear weapons,
and to highlight the transformation in the relationship of Japan and the United
States. Though president Obama won’t apologize for the bombing of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki, he understands that the U.S holds responsibility to lead efforts to
remove nuclear weapons. Sunao Tsuboi, 91 years old, a survivor of the bombing
of Hiroshima and leader of antinuclear movement in Hiroshima, mentioned that he
was overjoyed that Obama would be visiting the city.
