Book Publishers Go Back to Basics

Book publishers are going back to its old ways to get more buyers. They have realized that their physical book sales have been increasing 5% for the last four years. They were surprised at this statement yet, they want to take advantage of this small opportunity of getting their business back on track without complications. After E-book and Kindle their businesses have been going down destabilizing all publishers.

They are noticing that many readers can't get used to E-books since they are harmful for vision and it is not as enjoyable to read. Therefore, taking advantage of this situation they are focusing on "knowing what [readers] want," according to Markus Dohle, chief executive of Bertelsmann and Pearson.

In this article the publishers share their surprise at how they thought physical books were at a sales decline period since many e-books have become digitized and easier to obtain. However, e-book sales have now been decreasing up to 17% last year. Therefore, their strategy at the moment is to start investing again in printed books and finding ways to make these books accessible faster to its readers.

It is a rare situation against the modern technology culture we are in but, then again it is all about what the consumers want and need. Here we can see the strength of "consumers dollar votes" towards saving a product that was on a declining period.
