The $200 Motiv Ring shows fitness-tracking technology has shrunk to the point that it can be worn on a finger.

The Motiv Ring is a new ring shaped piece of technology being tested, that measures activity, heart rate, and sleep. This piece of new technology, currently runs for $200. The creators of this gadget are comparing it to the fit bit. Although not made by the same company, the relationship between the two devices exists in the fact that they both have pretty much the same functions, but the Motiv Ring is just smaller. The makers of this product believe that one of the advantages of this technology, is that it is the first wearable tech that just blends in.

This device packs a ton of sensors into a small band that is only as thick as four stacked nickels. Another very intriguing aspect of this product is that it has a fairly long battery life. It is said to be able to last for about three days on one charge. The makers of this ring also believe that, while the apple watch aided in increasing the popularity of wearing technology on your wrist, consumers are still looking for a seemingless piece of fitness technology that they can wear without a fuss. This device is meant to be unisex, it is waterproof, and rarely glows except to show that it is charging or syncing wirelessly.

However, with all the advantages, there are some disadvantages. For one, the motiv ring is not like an apple watch or any piece of technology that you put on your wrist where it is pretty much a one size fits all situation. You actually have to find your ring size in order to purchase one that fits. On top of that, this piece of technology does not have a screen, so instead of just being able to glance down and see your progress, it is up to you to download the motiv app and check your progress on there. A serious concern of theirs is that actual athletes will not think that this technology is accurate and efficient enough to track their progress.
