WeWork Startup

In the more recent decades, what used to be a not so prevalent form of investment has become the golden goose for large investors; startups. They have become one of the hottest commodities of today's culture. Whether a high percentage of them work or not is debatable. What isn't debatable is the excitement that they bring; of creating something new, changing the norms, and simply inventing something that works. This is the case for WeWork. WeWork is a company that provides a “physical social network”, imagine a physical Facebook, or Instagram. They rent out office spaces that look like your typical hipster coffee, starbucks, or simply a cool place to hang out with your friends and/or get some work done.

WeWork is changing the norms. It's certainly targeted at a younger audience (does millennials ring a bell?) because of their interest to work somewhere that isn't so plain, monotone, and let's face it, boring. They do so by incorporating the work place with contemporary art, furniture, and out of the norm designs. However, they have found just the sweet spot between cool and efficient; while they do have cool looking rooms, they too have soundproof rooms for meetings, private calls, etc... and when you don't want to be in complete silence, they have what they call a common area. WeWork describes common areas as "The heart-and-soul of our locations, these lounges are living-room-style paces designed for creativity, comfort, and productivity." Seriously, what else could you possibly need in an office?!

All in all, this startup will most likely be a huge hit knowing that millennials are complicated creatures looking for things outside of the norm. Cubicles and plain office spaces are so pre-2000s. Millennials need a cool study place, to do cool productive things, while they hang out with cool people. Seriously though, the target market of WeWork will fall in love with the service they have to offer and it's really a win-win situation. Who wouldn't want to go to work in an office or space that they really enjoy?
