LG and Google Introduce a Phone-free Smartwatch

LG and Google have just introduced the phone-free smartwatch. Majority of smartwatch from vendors all over the world mostly can not operate without Wifi or nearby smartphone. By releasing the Android Wear Watch that features bluit-in LTE, the 2 companies have changed the perspective of many users all over the world. With the LTE connectivity, the smartwatch can receive phone calls, text messages when the phone is placed far away.

The release of the LG and Google’s Android smartwatch is closely related to marketing. Firstly, the feature of receiving contents without nearby phone has helped many people overcome the worries of having to keep the phone nearby. Smart Marketers do not make mistake by paying too much attention on the products they offer and forget to concentrate on creating customer value. LG and Google have succeeded in this strategy, they offer more benefits and experience of having much more convenience than other smartwatch vendors by the above feature. Such benefits and experiences lead to higher customer value. Secondly, with the price of only $200 including 2 years data-plan compared to over $300 from Apple’s basic smartwatch and other branches, LG and Google have significantly increased the switching cost of Android’s current users and even attract customers from competitors.

  1. These companies are really working hard to help those who are always on the run and I believe this is a brilliant idea. The only thing that I would be concerned with as a customer, would be the size of the watch. Other than that I think its good that other companies give Apple competition not only on other electronics but watches as well.
