Volkswagen Sales Fall in October Amid Emissions Scandal

Surprise, surprise... Volkswagen AG's Sales have fallen since their emissions scandal back in September. If you do not remember, Volkswagen cheated their emissions tests by producing many vehicles that falsely passed the tests. After this, Volkswagen experienced a 5.3% drop in their market after October. VW sales executive Jürgen Stackman says, "The entire company is working to restore the trust of our customers." Of course, who wants to trust an automobile company that lies about the emissions-what else could they be lying about? What if they're also lying about the fuel tanks in the way that Ford has in the past? This could result in multiple injuries and deaths.
Being a car company who provides and markets vehicles for families, this is going to be a tough target market to reel back in. Families are going to want a reliable, honest company to provide a vehicle for them. If they're breaking that trust for the consumer (especially the family) this is going to be a hard road ahead. Volkswagen's first step in rebuilding their customer trust is by offering them a goodwill package of $1,000. However, " Mr. Stackmann said the technical details and the time it would take to fix the tainted vehicles are still under discussion with the relevant authorities. Volkswagen would announce the fixes as soon as possible".
The reason I chose this article was because I previously wrote an article at the beginning of the scandal. I believe it's good to have the followup. It shows the progress and effort being put in by the executives at Volkswagen AG in an attempt to win back the loyalty of their recently betrayed customers.
