Since Sears is closing many of its stores the need to carry manufacturers products has decreased greatly and Whirlpool is one most affected by it.
Sears and Whirlpool had a pricing dispute because Sears wanted to gain more revenue for their sales yet, price for raw materials for Whirlpools products had also increased.
Whirlpool is worried that the rise on prices of raw material will scare away retailers that carry their products. Yet they know they have to decrease their revenue for a while until they find the efficient measures to produce and distribute their products. Let’s not forget the fact that Whirlpool has big competitors like Samsung and GE which might lead to a difficult pathway for them to fix their current situation.
