Amazon, Long Seen
as a Threat to Malls, Is Now a Hot Tenant
Amazon is a company
that has had great advertisement and marketing which explains their level of
success today. Amazon might be a useful tool and best friend to a lot of us,
but malls and department stores suffered from the success and popularity of
Amazon. This article written by Esther Fung on March 5th at 5:30 AM
talks about how there is now starting to be a better relationship between
stores, malls, and Amazon. Amazon is beginning to open physical stores, some
pop-up shops in malls, bookstores, etc. this brings back the traditional way of
shopping instead of buying everything online. If Amazon can get a large volume
of people to visit their stores in malls it could potentially save malls and
those stores located around it. Business is about marketing and
advertising. A store could have the
highest quality at the lowest prices, but if they do not market and advertise
this, it is likely that no one will know about it. This is what differentiates
Amazon from stores in the mall. There are many local mall stores that do not
even have an active website. People would much rather hop on Amazon.com and get
their shopping out of the way in one sitting than to walk into a store not
knowing if they are going to find what they need. Amazon putting physical
stores inside malls will bring attention to those smaller stores around it,
because if people are already at the mall for Amazon, it is likely they will
walk around and visit stores around it.

I would love to go to an actual amazon store! Did not realize a physical Amazon store was a thing. I understand why it would not work as well because I believe the majority of people prefer to shop from home. Interesting article.
