I find it incredible and intriguing how it is one of the most followed and influential teams around the world. Every single place that I have been to, there is always someone wearing a Ronaldo or Sergio Ramos jersey. The soccer club is by far, the master of branding and has one of the strongest marketing strategies. When examining the Real Madrid soccer club, one does not only look at the equipment and the athletes, but also, the stadium, social media, advertisements, and the fans. Teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid create a notion of a global community and through social media, they can take the fans to live videos of the atheletes warming up and footage that speaks to the fans.
The athletes and clubs do a great job of marketing their brand. Very key to the revenue these teams bring in, the fans buy merchandise and kids grow up wanting to be just like the Athletes they see on TV.
