Disney Parks Consider Off-Peak Prices

October 4th

Because of new attractions in Disney Parks such as Frozen and Star wars, they are reaching record attendance. Some days the gates are closed because of overpopulation inside the parks.

The Walt Disney Co. is considering switching to demand-based pricing at its parks, where tickets would cost less or provide added benefits on slower days and cost extra or come with more restrictions on dates when there tend to be too many people (ex: weekends, holidays). This is a way for them to better spread out attendance in the park.

Raising overall prices wouldn’t fully solve the problem at hand because Disney parks are also seeking to raise attendance during slower times of the year. In addition, keeping park vacations within the reach of middle-class families is important to Walt Disney Co.

Disney is currently expanding parks, which will only increase demand and the crowding problem will only worsen.

I chose this article because I have always wanted to go to Disney World ever since I was a child and this seems like a good idea for Disney parks.

This change in pricing is being made because of the customer.  I believe it will also be beneficiary for the customer in the long run. This change could make the park more enjoyable for everyone.
