'House of Cards' Returns on Netflix... Without Kevin Spacey

'House of Cards' Returns on Netflix... Without Kevin Spacey

Many have watched and enjoyed the brutally honest political show House of Cards, starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. This upcoming season is not only the last season of the show but it will also be done without Kevin Spacey. The reason for this recent firing is due to all the sexual harassment allegations made against this actor. The show's producer, Media Rights Capital, has fired this individual earlier this fall and Netflix stated that they would not go on with another season if Kevin Spacey was on-board the cast.

This brutal, yet necessary, firing has caused much commotion. The reason why it was necessary is because House of Cards is one of the best rated shows of all time and this title may change if there wasn't a change in the cast. People would probably be offended if an alleged sex offender is in the midst of their favorite show. This would probably decrease ratings and put the show to shame. However, by firing the troublemaker, the show would not only improve its ratings but also maintain a good PR. The viewers would probably be more loyal to the show and therefore increase the sales. Getting away from scandals is the best thing to do when it comes to Hollywood or your show will be tainted forever. It's hard to imagine House of Cards without Kevin Spacey and even Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos doesn't know how they will explain Mr. Spacey's absence from the show. One thing is certain, whether this action was made through good sense or for good business, the ratings of the show are bound to go up.
