Today's Chick Look? 'Upcycled' Clothes

Second-hand clothing sells for more than new clothing! YES you heard that right!  Designer labels such as Ralph Lauren, Missoni, Vetements, Viktor & Rolf, and many more, are using second-hand clothing to create new and one of a kind designs. These unique designs can cost thousands of dollars! but that is not a problem for customers. They are more than willing to spend the money if it means getting a design that only they will have.
Even though the prices are out of hand this marketing strategy helps the ecosystem. By recycling old clothing we reduce greenhouse gases, save landfill space, conserve energy, generate new material. Besides making a profit, these designers are helping put out the word for this new trend and what does anyone love to do best? To follow the most new and trendy thing. Even if you do not purchase clothing from high end designers you can still go to your local thrift store or use some of your old clothes to make unique and fashionable items to wear. Just look at that cute romper and jacket!

  1. YES. I love this trend. Stuff like this usually starts popping up when people are running out of creative ideas, but it is a good reminder that you can still dress originally without having to spend a bunch of money.

  2. 100% agree with Elena, this trend allows originality. Besides the fact that well-known brands are using second-hand clothing to create something knew, overall shopping in second-hand stores has also become a trend because more and more young people are going out and shopping at stores like Goodwill and other neighborhood second-hand stores. So I think it was just a matter of time that a name brand company do something like this.
