Amazon to Debut its First Daily Live Show

Amazon will air a daily live fashion show over the internet on Tuesday nights. This will be called Style Code Live. This will be Amazon’s first daily live show for its streaming video service. Munira Rahemtulla has been marketing through Amazon products for 9 years and she will be heading the live TV project. Leading up to this live fashion show, Amazon has acquired Shopbop in 2006 and subsequently launching flash sales site MyHabit.com. Amazon has also began selling its own private fashion labels. This show will have a trio of hosts. Ariana Grade’s bother will be one of them. They will also be discussing beauty tips, which is sure to launch Amazon’s makeup and hairsprays. This is huge for Amazon considering people who shop beauty product lean towards the well-known brands like Sephora.

I find it interesting that Amazon is trying to sell original products now rather than sticking to selling popular items at a discount. They are competing with other products they offer to their customers, but are using a different marketing strategy.

This relates to marketing because Amazon is trying a new outreach technique. They are showing their customers products by using them in a video. They are targeting new customers who prefer to see videos of products rather than just pictures.

  1. This sounds kind of strange for Amazon as while they do have original products for purchase, they have never done clothing before as far as i remember. This is probably the best time to do it for them as with the fashion world not having any current giant trends they can try to get into the center of it with Style Code Live. If their plan works, Amazon may become more directed towards beauty and fashion products along with their current business, which could either make them more money or cause them to eventually be too spread apart in the market if they are not careful.
