Bumble Bee Recalls Tuna for Possible Contamination
Bumble Bee Foods LLC just announced that it is recalling some of
their canned tuna. The reason they are recalling some of their products is
because of contamination. The canned tuna might be polluted by spoilage
organisms or pathogens. Although this could cause life-threatening illnesses,
no illnesses have been reported yet.
The recall includes 31,579 cases of canned tuna produced last
month. These cases were distributed nationally.
Bumble Bee Foods LLC said that they have to be very careful
because of the possible under-processing of the canned tuna. They are working
with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to quickly remove these products
from stores. They are also advising consumers to throw away the tuna.
I chose this article because I’m interested in the food industry
and at the same time it is a very serious problem. It is related to marketing
because people are going to stop buying these products. This could result in a
huge financial loss for Bumble Bee Foods LLC.

While this is definitely bad for business for the company, it is good how they realized the issue with their products before anyone got sick or harmed from it. With how bad the Chipotle food poisoning outbreak greatly reduced their number of customers, Bumble Bee Foods LLC is doing the right thing even if it is currently hurting their present income. Hopefully they recover from this soon and are able to get back on their feet without any permanent damage to their business.
ReplyDeleteIt is good that they are taking proactive approach to this problem before it could get out of control. This way, they are both protecting their brand name and prevent themselves from losing money (from possible lawsuits).
ReplyDeleteThe company is making sure that no customers get affected by this product and i think that they are taking a serious step to prevent this from happening again. I could compare this problem with the Blue Bell but they had it worse because their products were in stores until the company notify the viewers on the news that they must not buy the product because it contained a dangerous contamination. they did it with precaution and the stores took away everything. I think that Bumble Bee did a right decision to avoid any lawsuits against them
