Fast Food's Fast Feud Over Breakfast

There has been a war raging between fast food chains to gain control of the breakfast market. Recently McDonalds launched a limited all day breakfast menu and are testing an expanded all day breakfast menu in Oklahoma and North Carolina. In retaliation, Taco Bell plan to unveil a one dollar breakfast menu of up to ten items. This announcement comes less than two years after Taco Bell entered the breakfast market. Many other fast food chains have had success offering a breakfast menu such as Whataburger, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and Dunken Donuts. Analysts attribute this recent market saturation to consumers moving away from cold, carbohydrate dense breakfasts, such as cereal and yoghurt, towards hot protein-rich breakfasts. The winner of this breakfast battle is yet to be decided, with Taco Bell now targeting the low budget consumers with a dollar menu and McDonalds increasing convenience with an all day menu the competition is heating up.
