The Great Comic-Book Movie Debate

With comic book movies becoming more popular and mainstream than they ever have been, it would make sense that DC would want to get in on the popularity and large source of revenue. This of course is shown with their newest upcoming movie "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" as they are trying to use it to get a strong foothold into the movie business just like Marvel. as Marvel's biggest movie successes such as "The Avengers" and "Iron Man" giving comic fans and casual movie fans what they wanted, they have had a large impact on the movie industry with these movies being both a financial and critical success. While DC's previous movies like "The Green Lantern" and "Man of Steel" being either just terrible or having mixed reviews, it is not certain whether or not they can make a successful line of movies like their major competitor. With all of the planning Marvel's movie team has had to complete before even starting their line, DC will definitely have barriers they have to break through if they want to make this work out.
While the previous decade of DC's live action movies did not really gain them as much fame as Marvel's movies, they did have the Batman trilogy that went quite well and shows that they can make good movies with DC characters. With Batman being one of the main characters in this upcoming film, this will definitely bring in some hype and batman fans into the seats on opening day. This can also be said for Superman, as these two huge icons in the comic book industry in the same movie can make for a great film between the two. However, with the filming at Warner Studio with Jack Synder, it has a large range how how wonderful or bad it can be as he made great hits like "300" and terrible flops like "Sucker Punch". So it can be said that this movie has a lot of variables on how well it will turn out.
DC has to be careful about this film as it will either make or break their reputation in the movie industry with how they have so many huge superhero cameos in the film, they have to be able to please both fans and casual moviegoers with the same film. They are also directly competing with Marvel, so they have to be able to make "Batman v Superman" a big enough hit or it will just be swept under the rug by Marvel's other films. With how aggressively they are marketing this film and how much money they put into it, DC only has one option with this movie if they want to make this one and the others they have planned out to be just as good as Marvel's movies or better; go big or go home.
