Target and Walmart shares being defeated by Amazons most recent change

One day shipping is not looking too good for Amazons Rivals

Amazon Prime members have a benefit of receiving free two-day shipping. On the other hand, Walmart and Target have free two day shipping on order that are $35 and above. After Amazon announced their $800 million move of switching to one-day shipping, its rivals shared went down. Targets shares were down 5.65% to 77.12, and Walmart shares declines 1.92% to 101.52, Amazon shares  increased 2.54%. All these effects due to Amazons announcement, keep in mind they have not stated when this will be beginning. According to the Commerce Department, online shopping accounted for 9.7% of the total retail sales. It has grown significantly from past years. The difference between Walmart, target, and Amazon is that Walmart and Target have options where the customers can do same day pick up at the store--helping to increase their sales. But not everyone wants to get out of their house to go pick up the products they bought. Especially when you live in a big city like Houston, going to the store can be hassle with traffic. Some people are lazy and want it shipped to their homes to save themselves a trip--this is where Amazons one day shipping will be useful and successful. E-commerce can be extremely competitive with companies. but Amazon already has set the expectations at an all-time high with current two day shipping and soon to be one day shipping. This article caught my eye because like I said before, some people are so lazy and now that Amazon announced the one day shipping, I know I wont want to leave my bed for my shopping.

  1. How will Amazon rivals be able to compete with Amazon's new one-day shipping?
