Uber Wants to Be the Uber of Everything—But Can It Make a Profit?

In March 2009, Dara Khosrowshahi the CEO of Uber Technologies, Inc. founded the company as peer to peer transportation service, besides sharing rides, food delivery, hailing service also included. It becomes the largest Uber service to accompanies everyone at the age of eighteen at least no minors are allowed. The company targets at people that do not own a car for shorter distance or longer distance of drive. As Uber announces that the company will expand into all forms of transportation from food to freight. The majority of Uber market target to the most crowded town like New York, Houston and other major cities. Other Taxi companies had been facing losses since Uber overlapped the U.S. traditional transportation service. Perhaps, the company value has been rising and SoftBank Group Corp is one of their largest shareholder, Uber has made a decision to become the dominate world transportation. For the better or worse? Mr. Khosrowshahi said at a talk at Stanford University’s business school “ If they want a predictably profitable company—go buy a bank” he continued “Really the long-term is what we’re after” he indicates that the future is unpredictable but it can become real and profitable if there is faith. In business industry, people simply know that the fact is the higher risk, the higher return, no one knows what is going to happen the next day. In contrast, Uber has become weakened in smaller places in southeast Asia simply because the markets are very small compare to the U.S. market. Therefore, Mr. Khosrowshahi has sold 27.5% stakes to Grab company there, Uber was no longer existed on market there. The article emphasizes how Amazon implementation was successfully achievable. Uber is following Amazon’s footstep to become the world’s second largest transportation in all forms in the next year. In conclusion, Uber services already surpass other companies such as Lyft and DoorDash because they were launched at the earlier. There is no competitor that would affect the company’s plan to transporting freight, Uber may reach its goals as it desires.

This topic is related to marketing strategy in “customers” base, providing services as “product” and a little bit on “price” because Uber will going to compete with other giants transportation services such as USPS, UPS, DHL and Fedex, etc…
