Online Groceries; Good or Bad?

Wal-Mart may have found an answer.

In an interview, with Wal-Mart CEO, Karennan Terrell spoke out about how the company has been doing since piloting online grocery shopping. He spoke out and said that,

"online customers have a very, very high level of satisfaction—above 90%—while for those shopping in the store, it isn’t nearly at that high level,"

claiming that for the time being, online shopping seems like the better option when it comes between;  going to the store and having to pick out the "right" product from the multiple choices, or letting someone else pick out your grocery and having to just go out and pick it up.

The fact that the customer would rather have someone decide for them instead of standing in-front of the all the products, can ultimately help to prepare for the future and plan out whether to just limit their online selections to store-brand items or list some well known products as well. Ultimately, Wal-Mart may have to continue piloting and extracting data from online costumers to decide what their next plan will be.

Wal-Mart will have to gather information in order to see correlations between selections and levels of satisfaction, as well as number of selections available and returning number of online customers. However, as of now they seem to be doing well by developing personal relationships with the returning customers, they are likely to continue shopping online and recommend such activities to friends and relatives, allowing Wal-Mart to set up a simple marketing strategy that is concise and targets online shoppers as well as in-store shoppers.
