Tesla Motors builds factory in Nevada

Tesla Motors, the electric car company, doubled its labor force to build a Mega factory in Nevada. The factory’s goal is to create more affordable batteries for their projected 1.2 million model 3 cars, which will cost around only $35,000 each for a fully electric vehicle for Eco-friendly young professionals to afford. This is their target market, because their other electric expensive models start at $66,000. The company CEO and chief, Ellon Musk, has a goal to start producing the lithium ion batteries that power the cars, and make them available in the market by 2017.
Their customers can be every age group that easily possesses a driver license, which is sixteen years old to eighty-four years old. The Nevada Govt. vowed to give the company tax breaks including $9.6 million in early 2016, and incentives worth $1.3Billion spread out throughout a timeframe of 20yrs, which includes building a highway from Carson City to where the factory is located. American families may not get up to the $7,000 tax break for buying electric vehicles, because the IRS states that only the first 200,000 vehicles of any new electric model cars sold will qualify, or the incentive may not even be existent because of new Govt. and cheap oil prices that cause all tax breaks to be removed entirely.

Tesla’s competitors are Nissan and Chevrolet. Nissan makes the ‘Leaf” model, and Chevy makes the ‘Bolt’ model which both start around $30,000 and is cheaper than the Tesla Model 3. All electric car companies are still competing for a small niche of eco friendly people, and cheaper gas prices makes it increasingly harder to prove they are worth the money. Tesla’s model 3 is also related to social responsibility, to heal the planet from pollution. The entire company is centered around this main idea.

  1. I think the Tesla is a great investment, allowing for folks to completely eliminate the costly expense of automotive fuel. I do question possible conflict this battery powered automotive may arouse? for example, the constant need for having to recharge the Lithium ion battery....also are civilians eventually going to have to pay a fee for being able to charge their Teslas' battery on the go?
