Social to corporate, Facebook has created an easier way for workers to communicate to one another at their company. This new service that Facebook is offering to companies for a price is called "Workplace". Below are the pros and cons of this new service:
- Pros
- Similar to Facebook format
- If workers already have a Facebook account, they can easily adapt to this new service
- Does not link to personal Facebook account
- Do not need a Facebook account to join software
- No ads
- Cons
- Charges monthly fee
- Dozens of rivals (Slack Technologies Inc., Microsoft Corps., Jive Software Inc., and etc.)
Interesting: Workplace is interesting, because it is proof that social networking sites are expanding their capabilities. Facebook has made it easier for people to connect from all over the world, and they are now going to help the business world.
Relevance: Out of the four broad types of marketing opportunities, Facebook falls into product development. Since most companies already use Facebook for advertising purposes, Facebook will be introducing a new service to current markets. The type of competition that Facebook is entering is pure competition, since there are many other collaborative software available.
Influence: Workplace will help businesses in the long run, because many millennials will be joining the business world. Since the majority of millennials already have a personal Facebook accounts, businesses will save money from training new employees on how to use Workplace.
