‘Alexa, Can You Be Empathetic, All-Knowing and
Funny?’

According
to Rohit Prasad, head scientist of the Amazon.com Inc.’s Alexa, believes we
will eventually have a fluent conversation with our future digital assistant! According
to the WSJ article Amazon has sold more 100 million devices powered by Alexa. Alexa
continues to grow and evolve each year and every year consumers are using more
and more AI-powered assistants. Other companies, such as Apple and Google, took
notice of this growth of digital assistance and wanted to be apart of the
digital A-I market race. These companies are making gains in the market sector,
as more consumers begin the purchase A-I products.
Voice assistance will be everywhere.
It’s going into cars, hotels, even hospitals! Prasad says: In 15years, it’s his
dream that artificially intelligent voice assistance will be everything and
everywhere. AI should be available on demand anywhere, blended into [our]
environment.” Yet, first they must need to make the tech smarter and evolve
with our society. The AI Alexa devices needs to collect and learn the things
that they will control before executing their tasks.
The Amazon team is also working on Alexa
conversing with human. They are working to have Alexa have “true, open, knowing,
unconstrained conversations”. They want Alexa to be some sort of companion in
the future. The marketing to team is looking to targeting people in need of
companion ship, such as elderly people. When AI becomes more competent and able
to express empathy, people will trust it more and the relationship with AI
device will grow stronger.
Analyzing
this development of Alexa, I would strongly agree that Amazon would be a perfect
example of a company that has a good market target. This product improves the
quality of life by providing person assistance, the market exposer is growing, advertising
is making the devices seem “normal”, and the prices will be affordable to al
since they want to blend it into society. The Amazon Alexa team has a stable
market plan by incorporating all the details: product name, place, promotion,
price, special implementation, marketing info needs, company analysis, competitor
analysis, customer analysis, and marketing environment. Amazon takes notice of
the trends affecting the marketing strategy planning by evolving with society
and the world.
