Microsoft’s New Xbox One S Won’t Play Videogame Discs

Microsoft is developing its new console which is innovative int the fact that it wont require any hardware such as discs or cartridges for its console. This is the first major console to do this, a step closer to the future of not needing consoles at all just streaming. this shift is due to the fact that people are no longer buying discs at stores rather they are downloading them. The percentage of downloaded games is up 10 % from the previous year. Along with this Microsoft expects to have their own game streaming system open for testing later in the year. This shift is also due to the fact that consoles now have more storage, downloaded games could not be supported on earlier consoles because the storage space was not enough for the games that took up large parts of memory. This new console has 1 terabyte of storage an insane amount that can now hold a lot more downloaded games. 

The whole reason for Microsoft doing this is to raise its sales, the XboxOne has been the worst console for Microsoft and is being beaten by the Playstation. To combat this Xbox is participating in new product development not only with this new Xbox but also with its game streaming. This change could blow up the gaming community as more people would be able to access games form multiple platforms. This will inevitably put Microsoft at the top of the gaming world, making the company more attractive to many different target markets. The new technology is opening us many opportunities for people to play games despite not having the money to buy expensive consoles. This new console is a big step in the right direction for Microsoft it is not only a boost for them and their marketing. it will also start to make them more attractive to a wider target market which will help them tremendously in the long run.
