This brand of shoe is made by Salomon a French outdoor brand, and these shoes are made for runners who run on rough terrain. Lately many smaller brands have been exposed to the fashion market, and some have even been featured on the runway during New York fashion week. It is not seen that many sneaker brands are collaborating with designer brands to make a very sought after shoe by an unexpected crowd. Fashion has always been intertwined with shoes specifically Jordans, but there is a turn in the tale now. People love the wild colors that really stand out from the traditional toned down colors in fashion. to get their brand more attention Salomon has partnered with designers, to make more fashionable designs. 

Modern fashion can open a treasure trove for many clothing or outdoor companies like Salomon. This company has gotten so much free publicity form this discovery. They are now in the minds of a new target market and is was not even intended. This was all unintentional for the brand and has brought them good success in the last few months. Now that they are in the public eye they are working on new product development, as they work with designers they will make their brand even more appealing to their new target market while still producing quality running shoes for their original target market. They are enhancing colors and styles but their construction and silhouette is still made for the track. This new publicity will be amazing for all running shoe brands and others like Salomon should enter this market and target this new chic fashion target market to widen their scope for sales.

  1. Honestly I'm glad WSJ touched up on this because it's TRUE! I know several people who wear athletic clothes or shoes just because " it looks cute" it's actually very smart for athletic shoe companies to focus not only on the focus on what the shoe can withstand, but also the look of it as well.

  2. I agree with what Lucy says but at the same time it could be noted that large performance brands such as Adidas and Nike are focused more on performance than looks but are very popular. However, this may also be a fact that they are popular and well-established brands compared to this company. This would be good for marketing to see how they can distinguish themselves from already established brands.
