Consumer behavior is being dramatically affected by the Coronavirus scare. Everything from hotels, airlines, digital advertising, and cruise lines are all affected by this uncertain virus. Along with the travel decrease, there is a lack of foot traffic, which has led to budget cuts in advertising.
According to New York Times Chief Executive Mark Thompson, "We are seeing a slowdown in international and domestic advertising bookings, which we associate with the uncertainty and anxiety about the virus".
In December, Zenith, and ad-buying firm, said they expected ad spending to be going up 4.3% to $666 billion this year but those figures will be looked over and lowered soon. It appears the Coronovirus has affected us in more ways than one.
