The Trump Administration has tried desperately to cripple the leftist government in Venezuela because of their mismanagement and corruption in their country. The problems have not improved since, Venezuela’s prices for basic goods have increased and Nicolas Maduro does not allow any type of political opposition to stand a chance. As a result, the United States have kept a close eye on the Venezuelan and Colombian government because of their plan to flood the U.S. with tons of cocaine over the past twenty years. These types of actions mirror what these corrupt governments are trying to do, and that is to make the rich wealthier while ultimately leaving the poor to struggle with no basic goods. This contradicts Maduros message in which he constantly describes that his goal is for socialism to improve the wealth gap in order to create more opportunities in the country. Recently the country saw the economy contract by thirty five percent and ending up falling into a five-year depression, and with the Corona virus affecting everyone Venezuela is left vulnerable because of their poor health care system. As a result of the findings of drug trafficking against Venezuela the United States hopes that soon they will begin prosecuting Venezuela officials and hopefully being the crippling of the country in order to overthrow it.
