During this pandemic, food delivery companies have either
been overwhelmed or have been thriving because of the high demand on behalf of
their customers. As customers are following “stay at home” orders they have
been ordering food delivery which has increased to-go sales by more than 10%
during the time period of one week. Although this may be beneficial for the food
delivery companies, there employees are put at high risk of getting
contaminated with the Coronavirus.
Without the drivers, the food delivery services would not be
available to those who order them, and the company would be harmed from this.
Even though, Uber and DoorDash have stated that they will offer 14 days of
missed pay to drivers who are infected or quarantined this can not ensure that business
will be around for long. With this in mind, as the situation has gotten worse
there have been many concerns about food contamination on behalf of consumers which
will not make matters easier for food delivery companies.
I chose this article,
because this demonstrates how companies must attempt to show differentiation by
gaining customer confidentiality to ensue that their services are safe to utilize.
In order to do this, there are various companies that are allowing front door
drop offs which limit the contact between drivers and consumers during delivery.
Very interesting blog, as this pandemic continues its journey around the world the people still need to eat and people love eating out so food delivery is the most adequate solution to flattening the curve next to cooking at home.
