Florida Begins Reopening After Virus Lockdown
Florida is now in their first phase of reopening. This calls for restaurants and stores to operate at 25% capacity. Things such as schools, bars, gyms, and salons will remain closed for the time. It is a tricky time for the states because on one hand the virus is not under control yet, as we see infections and deaths rising, but on the other hand, states budgets are completely shot and states could be facing bankruptcy, as well as consumers are struggling to pay bills let alone go shopping.
It is important to move forward cautiously as we try to balance limiting the virus' spread as well and limiting the economic damage the country is taking at the moment.
Infections in the U.S. account for nearly one-third of the global total at more than 1.15 million confirmed cases, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Experts say the reported figures likely undercount the extent of the pandemic.
More than 67,600 people in the country have died from Covid-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, according to Johns Hopkins. Health investigators across the U.S. have launched efforts to find previously unidentified deaths from Covid-19, with some reaching as far back as November to potentially rewrite the timeline of when the virus first came to the country.
