What Does it Mean to "Reopen" the Economy?













In this second article written by Sparshott, he highlights the reopening of the economy, the consumer market within China, and the advantages of a company furloughing rather than laying people off.  President Trump has been anxious to reopen the economy in order to stimulate economic growth in the United States. What we have to be careful of when the economy is slowly opening is not to overspend on things that are not necessary. The economy may have opened up, but that does not mean that there will not be another closure soon after. The consumer market within China is something many global companies and corporations depend on for revenue. Some companies have seen a little growth, but even that growth has attested hard to achieve in these times. Furloughing is the act of temporarily laying off workers. During this pandemic, many have laid off their workers permanently, but it has been concluded that furloughing would be the best route to take. Furloughing would lead to a faster economic recovery; some experts have said.
