Videogame Makers Electronic Arts, Activision Get Boost From Coronavirus Shutdowns




Many videogame companies have seen great benefits from the quarantine and isolation of COVID-19.  Electronic Arts has had a significant boost in sales, even before the stores started to close because of COVID-19. The company saw big incomes come in from the sports videogames, like FIFA and Madden.

Profit and revenue has increased significantly in the recent months. Electronic Arts projected revenue for the year was $6.45 billion and now has risen to a projected $6.8 billion. The risen demand from consumers has also brought to the attention of the company that 2,000 workers will need to be hired. After the quarantine is done, the company does expect revenues to go back down.

The company of Electronic Arts hasn't had to do much marketing for their products as of recent, yet has seen a large increase in revenue due to the digital aspect of their products that can be used in quarantine at home. Here we see how the increase in demand curve has caused the need to hire more workers for production and service.
