"Video Creators Are Frustrated With Pace of Facebook’s Antipirating Efforts"

"'[F]reebooting'—when clips are taken from YouTube and re-uploaded without permission from the creator". This is what is happening to a lot of YouTuber's, their videos that they made are being put on Facebook without their consent which is making them lose profit. Normally when a YouTuber creates a video, and depending on how many views they have they earn hundreds or thousands of dollars just from one video. The main problem with freebooting is that it is taking away from the individual that has put the time and effort into making the video. Facebook is starting from scratch trying to figure out a way to prevent this problem. "Facebook already uses a third-party technology called Audible Magic that “listens” to videos uploaded to the site and checks for matches against its database, but it still misses a lot of content. The rights-management system under development aims to keep up with Facebook’s scale and pace of sharing".
The video that was mentioned in the article was about a scientist, Brady Haran, and he took a chunk of lithium and dropped it in the 7-Up soda. The soda turned brown and fizzy just after 30 seconds. The video soon went viral before the actual YouTuber's could request for it to be taken down. Even after they sent in the request it takes hours or days to fulfill the request and by then it is too late.
I chose to do this article because I think this influences everyone's Facebook experience, there is always videos up but no one really thinks twice as to where they are from.

Hitachi Develops Robot Assistant to Locate People Needing Help

Hitachi Ltd has advanced its capabilities in the experimentation in robotic assistance. SoftBank Group Corp.’s humanoid robot "Pepper" now has competition in the market. Hitachi "Emiew3" was revealed last week and is controlled by a centralized computer operating system that can detect when people need help or assistance. The system can dispatch humanoids for assistance and it can move up to 3.7 times faster then the rival pepper. "Emiew3" can understand and communicate in four different languages. It is designed to assist people at airports, hospitals , and any other public places or venue. It has a built-in microphone that can detect noise and would be transferred into the database for evaluation. The weight is 33 pounds and it has a redundancy system to help itself up if it falls or tips over. "Emiew3" is scheduled to become available in 2018.

I feel that in order for Hitachi Ltd to stay competitive in the market, they should consider releasing their robot earlier. This is a new technology that hasn't been tapped into. The robot "Pepper", of SoftBank Group Corps, is already considered the world's first robot that understands human emotions and has been on the market since July 2015. If Hitachi Ltd waits to long to release "Emiew3", people will lose interest or go with the rival Pepper who at that point would have gone through modifications making the system more effective.

Steaks of the Future: Is Meat from the Petri Dish the Way to Go?

A meatball from another startup, Memphis Meats.

Technology and science has improved food products and the food industry over the years with various improvements such as canned foods, refrigerators, microwaves, and so much more. However, with this new scientific breakthrough you may not even need to have real animals to have meat. Written by Jacob Bunge, this article tells how Memphis Meats Inc. are growing animal cells for the purpose of making them into full size slices of steak. While this started around 2013 from originator Mark Post, back then it had mix reviews on the taste and quality of the food which made Post have to try and improve it. The companies making this say that by growing meat with cells and bioreactors they can make it so that businesses won't have to put in antibiotics in their food products anymore and will have less waste produced through this process. This will also greatly reduce how much America spends on meat from its giant 186 billion dollar spending, with only 2 million dollars being used to fund Memphis Meats.
While on a purely qualitative perspective this is great news for feeding poor countries and killing less farm animals, I do think that this will take a while for people to get used to. Many people these days in America and other 1st world countries want their food to be wholesome and natural, so having their dinner originating from a test tube may not appeal to them. Paranoid people will be worried about this "franken-beef" as they will be worried of what could be in this strange new cuisine, but the companies that are developing it say that they will have the FDA check it first before shipping it into store shelves. Even though that Mark Post's idea of cell growing meat is for the greater good of humanity, people's natural tendency to want something more natural will make this an uphill battle to bring into the market with positive results.

Tune in to Twitter to Thursday Night Football

Twitter Inc. might become the new way to watch Thursday Night Football games instead of going out with your friends to a bar or to the game itself. According to the National Football League, Twitter obtained the rights to stream 10 of the 16 regular season games even though they offered the least amount of money.
Twitter will show pregame video coverage of the players, the entire game, extended live coverage, and a barrage of sports tweets from fans and the athletes. This is a big step for Twitter as its user growth declined throughout the past few months. Twitter’s audience is still approximately 800
million, but with this new offer begins they expect it to increase extremely.
With the increasing amount of audience members and professional athletes tweeting, this will increase the ad usage of Twitter, which is their primary source of revenue. Twitter will receive 15 advertising slots to sell during each of the 10 games it is showing. The NFL chose Twitter because it would create popularity to its sports fans and open up to a broader audience. Tune in next season via Twitter to the opening football games!

Another Condo Bust Looms in Miami

Miami is currently facing a condo bust, which is when a housing bubble is first run-up in housing prices by demand and then erupts due to rise in interest rates that decreases demand and ultimately causes the housing bubble to burst. A burst such as this one typically occurs on average every thirteen years and lasts for about two and a half years. While the market is slowing, developers have started canceling projects, dropping prices, and offering some attractive motivation for buying right now. One development group, Verzasca Group, is even offering buyers of the Aurora a free membership to JetSmart, which allows members to use shared private jets and has a retail value of $12,000, to get sales going. Miami development groups are trying to appeal to the growing demand from New York customers wanting second homes in the Miami area. Part of the JetSmart offer that The Aurora extends to buyers is a few flights a week from New York to SoFlo (Southern Florida), which looks attractive to potential New York buyers. This marketing strategy is unique and luring for potential buyers that may be exactly the type of incentives that the market needs in order to get it going again.
To understand just how much the market has slowed down in 2015, “Carlos Rosso, President of condo development at Related Group (Miami’s largest condo developer), said he sells about 20 units a week in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area, versus about 100 a week last year. The biggest problem with the condo bust is that while the market has slowed down significantly, inventory has increased at least a third of what it was a year ago. However, because developers and other in the industry recognized how slow the market was moving, they were able to prevent the excessive inventory by stopping projects, lowing prices, and offering incentives to sell what there is now. Another factor that is Affecting the Miami condo market is that the value of the dollar is very strong right now while many foreign currencies value has dropped significantly, which is a large portion of customers in the Miami market. In addition to the foreign market, the unstable stock market has made Miami locals nervous and reluctant to making large real estate purchases as well. The Miami real estate market will be back up in no time, but part of being in real estate is knowing when to start new projects and knowing when to sell the inventory before it becomes excessive by analyzing the markets and economies.

Poisoned Burrito Crisis Fixed? The Current Situation of Chipotle

Chipotle founder and co-CEO Steve Ells, shown in a Seattle Chipotle in December, is under pressure to show he can revive the chain’s fortunes after illnesses that scared off customers and investors.

With how badly Chipotle's businesses has been troubled with a constant issue with its food health safety and quality, the former giant Mexican food business seems to have finally turned itself around. With a fresh revamp of its kitchens and food supply, Chipotle is definitely finding ways to combat the mysterious E. Coli outbreaks that have been plaguing its food and business over these past months. Steve Ells, the owner of Chipolte, has been throwing himself into doing whatever he can to prove to fix his business in any way he can with these new changes. His actions prove that he deeply cares about the image of his business, going as far as to close any of his restaurants if he found them the tiniest bit dirty. While the drop of sales is steadily coming back up, Chipotle is still in a a bit of a crisis as the investigations on the E. Coli outbreak have given up without any leads as to where it may have originally came from. However, some analysts say that since Chipotle brings in fresh food instead of pre-packaged frozen ones, contamination is a lot easier for it due to this. While the investigations have stopped, it is still going to check any meats that come into its industry for any signs or stands of E. Coli anywhere on it as to make sure something like this never happens to it again. With everyone in Chipotle working hard to keep it clean and safe for both its employees and customers, everyone hopes that the outbreak doesn't occur again and that they will get back their prior customer base once more to a satisfactory level.

Honda Revives Ridgeline Pickup, Aiming to Lessen Reliance on Cars in U.S.

Honda has once again tried to compete in the light truck market; the Ridgeline was originally released in 2006 and ceased production in 2014. Honda is trying to push into a very competitive market with their spin on the light truck market. Honda is known for making great economy passenger cars, but not trucks. One of the key issues with Honda's truck is first they do not offer a commercial truck. Secondly, they do not offer fleet vehicles, and finally Honda is not gearing their the Ridgeline to truck users, they are gearing it to tailgaters and people who want to drive a truck but do not want to use it like a truck. The Ridgeline is build around a mini-van platform to increase fuel mileage and ride quality. Light duty drive trains, inadequate ground clearance, and car attributes are only a few areas that Honda is going to lose interest by truck buyers. The problem with this design idea is that trucks are made a certain way for a reason, and when you take those characteristics away you essentially have a vehicle that has a bed and looks like a cross between a mini-van and a sedan.

While I personally do not care for Honda's feeble attempt at a pickup truck, Honda's target market with the new Ridgeline is suburban dads, and people who want to own a pickup truck for extra hauling capacity over their mini-van or sedan, but do not intend to haul or tow large loads. In order for Honda to be successful the Ridgeline needs to either be very fuel efficient, at a price point lower than the competition, offer financing promotions, and needs to appeal to certain demographic of buyers. Honda has their work cut out for them for the Ridgeline to be a success. Watching the ads, Honda is appealing to people who are looking for luxury or options over ruggedness, off-road capabilities, and hauling capabilities. I personally think that Honda is going to have a hard times selling the Ridgeline to truck buyers, with ford's eco-boost, Ram's Eco Diesel, Nissan Titian XD with the Cummins Diesel, and Colorado with the Duramax Diesel; truck owners can still get a more than capable truck that still hauls and has off-roading capabilities along with fuel efficiency.
