Sen. Bernie Sanders was informed by U.S officials that Russia is actively trying to interfere in the 2020 election and support his campaign, but their motives in the election are not clear. Mr. Sanders told reporters "here is the message to Russia, 'Stay out of the American election'". Bernie Sanders is currently leading his Democratic rivals in the national polls. It is suggested that he is positioned for a strong finish in the next causus, Navada.
President Trump was told, by intelligence officials, about Russia's apparent preference to have him re-elected. During the Oval Office meeting, Donald Trump lashed out at his acting director of national intelligence, Joseph Maguire, and replaced him this week because he was furious that lawmakers received the information first.
Russia has repeatedly denied interfeting in the U.S. elections.
