Companies such as ClassPass, The Honest Co., Rent the Runway, and Harry's Inc. have made steps easier for its subscribers to easily quit or unsubscribe from their services. This move comes from having their customers call in to their customer hotline to instead simply going online and unsubscribing. This move makes it much easier to try their products without having to go through hoops and frustration to quit. This is a great move to have the ease of trying out a product which may have customers stick around longer because of it. California has made steps to have companies have an option to quit online rather than calling or mailing. As the years go on with online consumerism, the move for online opting out is bound to be standardized.
Everyone has seen the trial periods using a product for only the fine print to say you have to call in to opt out. This move makes it much easier to consumers, such as myself, to try more products and see which brand fits. This does open the market much more than the traditional ways of calling or mailing. It opens more doors to customers and allows their company to expand. They may reach more than their target market by having their services easily available and able to quit. I do hope all companies follow this path.
This will surely help companies as well as the consumers who are trying these products be more efficient and less hassle when trying to end trial periods, which will probably bring sales up.
