The NFL's Scramble to Strike the Richest Deal in Sports

I believe most of us can agree that the National Football League is continuing to grow as an organization and beginning to become an international sport that every one from around the world enjoys to watch. The league is also starting to shift eras in the quarterback positioning transitioning from the Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady style of play which was more of a pocket passer that was a dominant style of play for the past two decades. As we transition from one era to another we start to see the young dynamic players in college become super stars in the league and begin to shape the league for their own. Such as Deshaun Watson, Russel Wilson, Lamar Jackson, and this years Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes. Although all the players bring different qualities that make them rising stars it can not be unnoticed that they share some similar qualities. Always finding the will to win and becoming a out of pocket quarterback or as experts say being a dual threat quarterback that can have a meaningful impact with their legs and of course by their passing ability. As the years have developed and new players continue to enter the league and make their impact it is becoming very noticeable that the people watching are enjoying what they are seeing. Ratings over the past couple years continue to grow as the league continues to grow as well constantly having some of their regular season games in other countries such as Mexico and England. As their ratings rose compared to their competitors such as the NBA and MLB dropped they look to take advantage of their opportunity to expand their deal with their national tv providers. Although their contracts with CBS, Fox, Disney, NBC, and other companies are still going they want to shape out a new contract that can will last for another decade. This new deal would not only have some affect on the league but also on the players as they look to better brand themselves when being paid. Also, with the league trying to get a mega contract with companies the players are asking for more money for themselves since they are the one who put their bodies on the line week in and week out throughout the season. They also want to come to an agreement because of some risk they believe to encounter because of the upcoming presidential election that previously made them drop 8% in view ratings in 2016. The league is looking to become bigger but to become bigger they will need to match the wants of their players as well so they can continue to grow for the years to come.
