Can Sporty Sedans Still Thrive in an SUV’s world?

In a world of high technology, cars can have high competition. This article talked about Alfa Romeo, an Italian brand of cars now owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). The Giulia is a beautiful car built for high speeds and luxury, this causing the price of it to be a bit high. That car model has not undergone a lot of upgrades due to it not being sold much, but the upcoming models will have better technology integrated.
What I found interesting is the mention of “Alfa’s situation in the U.S. is, however worrisome for the three R’: retail, repair and residual value”, this due mostly to the high repair costs. Customers have stopped buying these because of the high costs, sales dropped.
Something to take away from the article, is that the customer’s needs must be met at affordable prices. There are many brands of automobiles that offer what the customer needs, at a lower price.

  1. Alfa's vehicles are as you said high speed and luxury. Those two things do not make up an inexpensive vehicle. The high price is justified. What Alfa is competing against is other high speed and luxury sedans such as: 2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 (about the same price), 2019 Audi S4 (slightly cheaper), 2019 Kia Stinger GT (Cheaper). I do not believe Alfa is in many talking circles among car enthusiasts and the same can be said about Maserati (Both Italian). It's a niche market. Mercedes and Audi are more known and the KIA is a family brand of cars which happens to sell a sporty sedan. What Alfa needs to do is see what they are doing that the others are not. The others meet the needs of their customers and merit the price tag.
