Colleagues Become Confidants in the Age of Coronavirus

Companies across the world have started training their employees to recognize when colleagues might be struggling with mental issues and these individuals may serve as a listening ear if needed. For this they are using borrowed programs or devising one of their own strategy. The goal of such a plan is to help their employees with psychological issues and nip them in the bud. This type of counselling may be termed as intrusion into the personal life of someone, but such a trade-off is acceptable to make things work. And this aspect of job has taken great importance in the testing times of Coronavirus. Stress levels are high due to concerns about job security, pay, and health. Workers are isolated at home, and various issues are propping up with the newer experience of working remotely for many. In-person meetings are being cancelled in the wake of coronavirus, but counselling can be done through telecommuting. At these tough times, all of us have to keep tabs on each other and take care of emotional health of others. When the idea of remote work emerged first in the current crisis, everyone was energized and focused. But as the time passes, initial excitement has waned off gradually. Work is almost always on for some at home due to their availability at all the times. People have started to feel isolated, helpless, and worried about their older or immunocompromised family members. There is uncertainty in the air. Therefore, it is for the afore-mentioned reasons that role of colleagues has gained much importance in recent times to tackle mental health issues. Lending a hand of help in a stressful condition can go a long way in helping people with their professional and personal life.
I found this article for the reasons that it deals with the mental health of the employees. It presents a novel way of tackling mental stress of workers. Being a manager, I can urge my workers to adopt same habits to keep the working environment healthy and buzzing.
