With coronavirus cases coming to a steady line instead of a curve there has been some talk about reopening the economy. The government is still debating if we reopen the economy it will spur new outbreaks of the disease. New cases have declined since the first time in April. This decline however prompted officials to express cautious optimism that we may be hitting the plateau. We are hoping that by the end of this month we will be able to look around and say okay can we start pulling back a little. As other countries have begun reopening their countries they have seen second and third waves of the infection taking place. The US does indeed have the highest death toll from the virus in the world. Every government is saying that any relaxation of confinement measures will only happen slowly and that many restrictions will remain for many months to come. Spain this Monday has released some confinement measurements by letting some non essential business reopen. Italy , which has been one of the worst affected countries, has extended its lockdown until May 3. Asia is telling us to be careful about reopening our economies even though they are under pressure because when things return to normal new infections may arise. Singapore and Hong Kong also face second and third waves of the infection after reopening their economy.
