It is no surprise that Zoom has had to transfer more than 7 petabytes of data through Oracle's servers everyday, given the added traffic the site has had amid the corona virus pandemic.  Everyone from employees working from home, students now forced to home school, couples practicing social distancing while performing weddings, and churches having to broadcast mass online.

The corona virus pandemic has brought a new demand to Zoom Video Conference.  Previously Zoom reported 10 million participants in the 4th quarter of 2019 to a staggering 300 million last week.

There are other cloud providers such as Amazon.com and other undisclosed clouds but due to the higher demand, Oracle had to be added for increase cloud support.

Security had to be beefed up due to online hijackers because Zoom did not have adequate security. Oracle offers benefits in security, scalability, and performance.  Mr. Lowery, who is a cloud computing expert said the Zoom and Oracle deal is "more of a marketing win than it is a tech win".  Looks like Zoom and Oracle are in for a successful win.
