This article is about Googles new gaming product named the stadia. They are attempting to change the gaming industry all together and eliminate console gaming. The stadia is a product designed to let players stream video games to any of their WiFi connected devices. What they are doing is creating a whole new market for gaming. The reason why the stadia is such a step forward in gaming is because it takes out the need for expensive hardware. This is a huge threat to anyone that intends on selling consoles in the near future. If this newly introduced way of gaming picks up we will see a huge shift in the product life cycle of the stadia as well as gaming consoles. the stadia will transition into its growth stage while the console will decline and eventually die. Google is attempting to enter a very competitive market filled with monster firms such as Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. In order to do this they must innovate, and they definitely have. If they can provide their product at a reasonable price console gaming might become obsolete faster than we all thought. Price will be the main factor in its success this is because they are marketing the idea that this service will eliminate the high cost of buying a console. Along with the development of the software itself google plans to run its own game creation studio. They have left the task in the capable hands of Jade Raymond she is well known for her work on the game Assassins Creed. Her presence alone boosts the speculative capabilities of Googles gaming studio, strengthening their brand. Not only is Google planning to lower the price of gaming but they also provide a lot more accessibility. With their service people can play games anywhere breaking through the gaming barriers set by console. This could bring a whole new population of gamers into the market.

I chose this article because I like video games. The fact that Google could be capable to bring gaming to a whole new level is exciting. Not only are they providing lower prices and wider access to the games people love. They are also know for making products that work. They have the data networks for this far out idea to come to reality. If their product succeeds it could mean the end of the console all together.
