Analysis: Many times people believe that when they are bored with the usual branding of food items, it is not a mutual feeling among many. However, that is one thing companies, and customers have in common, they are constantly seeking ways to re-brand and bring in new ideas to catch the attention of many and Kellogg's is trying to do just that. I chose this article because I like cereal, especially Frosted Flakes. I have tried the original as well as the chocolate flavor, and both are delicious. But to read how Kellogg's is struggling to sell their new ideas to the public is disheartening. This article relates to our class because, in chapter 2, we discuss opportunities to pursue and one of them listed is Product development. According to William Perreault, Joseph Cannon and E. Jerome McCarthy, product development means "offering new or improved products for present markets"(54). They also say "by knowing the present market's needs, a firm may see new ways to satisfy customers. Kellogg's has created other cereal flavors such as Honey Nut Frosted Flakes and Strawberry Rice Krispies, but their recent innovation is Pringles wavy chips. Kellogg's is known for their cereal and I understand why they would want to branch out and do something different. However, it seems the public is not to fond of the idea. I would suggest that they do more market research and ask the customers by using surveys to find out what cereal flavors they would want to buy because cereal works for them.  It is important for them to study their market because the stock price change for Kellogg's in 2019 was unstable.
