Kellogg’s New Pringles Fail to Make Waves

Kellogg’s New Pringles Fail to Make Waves
The maker of Pringles potato chips isn’t having an easy time bringing innovation to tired brands.

This article is about innovation in the food industry, specifically with the brand known as Kellog. They have different flavors of cereal and snacks, but they are not really making a profit and they are having trouble with coming up with new innovations of different flavors.

Their innovations include Honey Nut Frosted Flakes, Honey Nut Cheerios, Strawberry Rice Krispies, birthday-cake-flavored Froot Loops, birthday-cake-flavored Oreos, and Eggo waffles in the shape of “Paw Patrol” characters. They even have the different flavors of Pringles chips. Not only do they have different flavors but they also vary from the curved potato chips that are sold in cans, the thin and flat potato chips that are sold in bags, and also the wavy potato chips that are also sold in bags.

I chose this article because I actually do eat some of their products and it seems interesting to me that they are unable to come up with new flavors and ideas to promote their products. To succeed and make improvements, they should probably just do some research or like a poll to see what the majority of people like. Since there are a lot of people with different interests, maybe they should target a specific group of people (like children) and see what flavors they like or the things they are into. The idea of “Paw Patrol” characters was good because I see a lot of children watching that cartoon show. Whenever new cartoon or animated movies come out, they can continue to do different shapes of characters. They could do different flavors or themes of cereal that children like. It is important to keep innovating in order to have a successful business because you do not want to be offering the same products over and over again. Society is constantly changing, and in order to have a successful company, you must be willing to make changes too in order to keep up with society. If not, your company may eventually run out of business.

  1. I like this post because it is showing how Kellogg is trying still developing and evolving in the current market. Some suggestions I would think would be to redevelop their target market and see who is really buying their products and work their way up from there.
