Snapchat Pushes Into Gaming, Ratcheting Up Battle Royale With 'Fortnite'
Snapchat are set to enter the the gaming industry, with their first project being called 'Bitmoji Party'.
Everybody knows Snapchat as the extremely popular messaging platform which is unique to any other. Snapchat broke the mold in 2011 when they created an app which would let you communicate with your friends via photographs and videos only.
If an organization isn't proactive then they will fall behind, we've seen numerous companies enjoy a number of successful years back to back and then just like that, they plummet. Snapchat is in fact extremely successful but to remain at the top they are going to have to keep finding ways to improve even if it seems like they don't necessarily have to.
Snapchat decided their next venture would be to move into the gaming market. It'll be interesting to see if the gamble pays off, only time will tell but it's a promising move from Snapchat who realize the demand of the consumer is changing.
This article really caught my attention as I use Snapchat everyday so I was intrigued to find out that they are moving into the gaming industry, something else I also use everyday.

Wow Jacob, this is a very intriguing post, I like it a lot. I find this to have great potential for Snapchat. This expansion into the gaming industry seems to be great move considering the brand they have created and the people who openly support it.
ReplyDeleteI think this is smart of snap chat, as it is very popular and widely used, the future is always uncertain. They clearly have a good marketing team that understands the importance of the marketing concept.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned an important point when you said not only did Snapchat differentiate itself from other social media apps but it realized that in order to stay ahead, it needs to constantly improve. I have high hopes for Snapchat in the future. The combination of gaming and Snapchat was a smart strategy because both are popular among young people. I wonder what is next for Snapchat but whatever it is, I am sure it will be exciting.
ReplyDeleteI think a smarter move would be for snapchat to focus on making it's platform accessible on proven gaming platforms and apps. Games are expensive and making a good one is especially so. By integrating their product with existing ones, they can save money on research, development, and promotion. While I applaud the effort I have doubts about how effective it will be in regards to it's cost.
