Amazon.com Inc is planning on cutting prices on hundreds of items this week at Whole Foods stores, the e-commerce giant is seeking to change the chain's high-cost image amid intense competition among grocers. These price cuts affect over 500 products and consist of a focus on produce and meat, according to some documents viewed by the Wall Street Journal. This action comes after Whole Foods raised prices in select items this past February which were mostly consumer products as suppliers increased their prices because of higher transport and ingredient costs.

Amazon is also seeking to keep up with other big food sellers, it intends to open a new line of grocery stores independent from Whole Foods later this year.

Some Whole Foods employees are scheduled to work overnight Tuesday and early shifts on Wednesday to switch out tags to show new prices, and also hang orange tags promoting them. Documents show that these cuts are expected to last at least through the end of the year.

These discounts include more produce and meat products than earlier cuts. The price of organic-rainbow carrots, for example, will drop by $1 to $1.99 and the price of one selection of Black Forest ham will drop $3 a pound to $9.99.
Amazon and the Whole Foods said this is the third round of price cuts after the deal between the two companies closed in August 2017.

I found this article very interesting because I personally never knew about Amazon doing this so I definitely learned something new by reading this article.
I believe this article is related to Marketing because the orange signs that they are hanging in the Whole Foods are to promote their discounts on some of their products, and to get customers' attention so that they see the price cuts.
