Italian-American automaker seeks to meet EU carbon-dioxide targets with electric-vehicles deal
By: Lam Huynh
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is seeking out to Tesla Inc. for help in order to avoid the huge fine when they fail to meet the strict European Union emission rules. Fiat has been ranked at the bottom of the list for all automakers in efficiency for 2012-2017 model-year vehicles due to the lack of investment for electric-vehicle technologies.
In order to go through with this deal, Fiat agreed to pay Tesla hundreds of millions of dollars for their infamous zero-emission system that they designed for their vehicles. This would allow Fiat 's vehicles to meet with EU's proper standard of emission targets while still provides their consumers with vehicles with a reasonable price mark.
This decision made by Fiat is very reasonable because it will help the company to improve its vehicles' model and quality, this also satisfy the consumers' needs for the increasing demands of improved and safe vehicles.
